Mica’s Home, Looking Like an Inflatable Pillow

Enjoying being home with a rawhide ring

I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes.

The patient is behaving almost normally, but looks really goofy with a transdermal patch stapled to the back of his neck, red fang marks on his nose, shaved patches on his legs and a puffy neck and chest that feel like a blow-up doll.

Life is tough for this 15 week old pup, but I gave him a strong name so he would be resilient and bounce back and that’s precisely what he did. He’s spent the last hour or so eating, drinking, peeing, pooing and chewing before bed. Everything works!

Thank you again to all you wonderful folks for everything you did. It seemed like a miraculous recovery to me.

Love and hugs from all of us.  ~ BP

  5. Glad that your dog is getting better. Maybe some chicken, 1 inch chick wire fence around the yard, buried about an inch into the ground.

So, glad Mica made it thru, we lived in cave Creek for 16 yrs, only had one snake bite incident. One day my dog was kinda groggy sitting under husband’s desk, the under the desk thing was normal, but the groggy thing wasn’t, sure enuf 2 fang marks on the nose. She was a grown German Shep mix, and $1000 later, she was fine, said traces of venom in blood stream, not too big a deal. So, for $50/ea we got our dogs “snake-trained”.

    • Anon, you got off easy. Our bill is well over $2000 and we’re not done yet. The patch is stapled on and has to be removed by the vet on Thursday. The breeder told me the snake vaccine is $45, but geez, he isn’t even finished his puppy shots for parvo/distemper and rabies yet!

It will be interesting to see Mica’s reaction if he ever sees another snake. Morgan used to walk right over them as they sunned themselves on the road or next to a trail and they never moved. The ones I’ve encountered have not been inclined to attack and didn’t rattle unless we got really up close and personal to take a photo.

lovely!! so glad you have your baby back.

Keep “Rescue Remedy” on hand by “Bach” it is a flower essence good for shock and emergencies. The spray form is good for animals to spay on their gums or in mouth. U can use it on people too. Available at most good health food stores or online.

also, if you don’t have it and ever find an animal in shock, rub honey on the gums to aid with their blood sugar.

most people are not aware that grapes are deadly to dogs – they cause renal disease. make SURE that you know which people food is safe for dogs , it is not the same as for humans.

may Mica have a long and happy , healthy life
